This opportunities referred to is related to Cannabidiol.. or in Australian terms "medical" cannabis .. Hemp oil ( whole plant or flower extract of hemp) distinct from hemp seed oil. This is something of significance to MCL yrs down the track when/if they or an associated company like AEB actually produce/manufacture/ extract cannabidiol from hemp(cannabis) something EXL already does.
The one implication for MCL that I am clueless on is the ability to export from Australia whole hemp crops for processing overseas. The passing of this bill making hemp a commodity would seems to indicate that it would.
Mixed crop ODC licensing restricts processing for hemp oil here, as well as needing a manufacture ODC licence and currently cannot be imported. The passing of this bill in the US MAY influence a change in recently (Nov 2017) associated Australian regulation that made importing hemp oil illegal to distinguish it from hemp seed oil which became legal both low THC.... The regulators may come to see the completely ridiculous situation this is.
