Wilson and his staff physically visit their holdings and gain an intimate knowledge of their operations. Before Covid19 presented to the world Wilson's microcap held a sizeable chunk of Longtable shares before they consolidated the holdings - at that point they would have done their due diligence on this company and would have a very good handle on where it was going and the possible catalysts to invigorate it. Wilsons already held information ordinary holders could have only gained by physical visitation and private interviews with the hierarchy. As a credit officer in an earlier life I often saw more about an organisation with a physical visit than I could ever see in their accounts or media announcements. So yes Wilson would know more than most retail holders but not necessarily by illegal means.
