It was a good time for CN holders to take advantage of an uptick in price... borrow stock, sell stock and then return stock when new stock is issued upon conversion. Even though Zip is expensive to borrow, they only needed coverage for about a week at most (shares issued on 20th, so reconciled positions at their favourite custodian would be available soon afterwards).
