I dont think there has ever been more Parking Spaces installed at shopping malls at the recent rate of production, and theres alot of shops for sure.

But Myer is a store that has crickets chirping most of the time and goes spastic at Christmas time.

Umbers report implied the first weekend in december should be as big as last years forst week in december.

When this year there is 3 less stores and this year the first weekend in december is still 3 weekends away from Christmas day.

Theres an extra weekend pre christmas in december this year. So how would have the numbers looked if Umbers used the figures from not the dates but from the 4th and 5th weekend away from Christmas.

Any twist in the Variables can slew the stats by 5% easily.

This anomoly could make the pre data look weak, and then look like a massive boost when revised after the extra pre Christmas weekend is accounted for.

We have a rising Population , low unemployment and low interest rates.

There will be some less bad news on its way. Retailer stocks tend to get a Bump over the Holiday season.

But right now Umbers has kicked it in the guts prior to anyone doing their Christmas shopping.

The sales are down on last year, Oh but we have 3 less stores. The sales per square meter is up by 3.7%
