About a year ago Paypal announced it was entering the BNPL space, launching in Q4, 2020. Despite many people's fears of competition, Zip continues to grow strongly in the US. There will always be new competition.
On the positive side, as noted by Larry and others, new entrants such as Paypal and Apple validates and strengthens the BNPL model, which is still in its infancy. Competition drives innovation and makes the companies work harder. Zip's expansion into multiple regions and new partnerships may have been accelerated by the competition. There are thousands of banks all over the world, but that doesn't mean collapse of the banking industry. Of course, Zip will have its challenges for future growth and profit, but fear of competition doesn't seem to be in their DNA.
