Yes, AIS really didn't have anywhere to go. Nobody else would have provided the facility. Desperados like AIS have to go to hock shops. This is the result. And yes regarding commodity pricing, lights out in all likelihood if copper/gold decline. Tenuous position they find themselves in arguably some of their own doing.
