Yes, the extra shares dillute the price of one share from $4.19 to just around $3.19. That would be the case if markets were ideal and change was instantaneous, but there's way too many factors impacting the price of one share for this to become true. Sentiment has been downwards since QAN went into trading halt and one would assume the purchase of Virgin Australia by Bain Capital creates additional pressure for QAN share price. Overall I feel this was a very strategic timing and content with job cuts and future plans in addition to shares released by Qantas. Could expect share price to drop below 3.65 in the short term if news of rising Covid infection rate keep coming in.
