People used to say they loved the stopover in Honolulu when doing trans pacific and a 13 hour non stop flight to LAX was crazy and hardly anyone will go on it.
I am sure the same was said when the kangaroo route dropped from 3 or 4 stops to one stop.
But all the posts above ignore that the PER-LHR had 90% plus loading pre covid. People loved it. So non stop from the east coast to Europe and eastern USA will be a no brained for most travellers.
however the A350s will only be a part of Qantas offering from east coast. There is still 10x A380s to fill and the 787 will also have a role on very long haul.
there are options for the stopover lovers with Qantas or other airlines.
thay said Qantas will fill the planes and with a large portion of premium passengers. You only need to look at history to show it will happen and be successful.
