The extremely slow renewal of the QAN domestic and international fleets is laid bare.
It has 75 largely domestic Boeing 737-800s that have a median age of 16 years.
Then there is its 26 Airbus A330-200s and -300s with a median age of 17.4 years. Some are for international duties. These will be flying for years, yet at least one has tape around its toilet doors. \
It was notable in FY 24 how fast international flight earnings declined. Increasing competition from foreign airlines didn't help.
But at least QAN has the incompetent Federal Labor government on its side, given the Minister for Transport Catherine King declined to allow Qatar Airways to operate extra flights into Australia's major airports. Qantas 1: travellers 0.
