Ord Minnett has updated its Qantas Airway model to account for traffic statistics and guidance reported in Tuesday’s market update and revised oil price forecasts to reflect a ‘lower for longer’ scenario in line with our commodities research team. The net effect of the change to FY16 is a 2.4% reduction in our normalised net profit forecast. In the change, we account for slightly lower revenue due to the impact of the Bali interruption and slightly higher costs as we pare our assumption on workforce reduction targets. We are also adopting oil price assumptions in line with our commodities research team and, as such, raise our FY17 normalised net profit forecast by 18.9%. We maintain our Accumulate recommendation on Qantas Airways and raise our target price to $5.00 from $4.50.
