I can see why shareholders are despondent with QBE.
However:
In the 3.5 years I have held it has been a winner.
I don't mean to brag but I have just bought parcels on these dips and sold these when it picked up and repeated the process.
This has allowed me to get my avg. cost in down to $5.74.
A number of posters have mentioned success with trading this stock in the past. I think this has been the strategy for QBE as an investment in recent years. Many posters have said how predictable these negative announcements are, well take advantage of it.
I will continue to do so while retaining a core holding.

I see more positives than negatives for QBE i.e

On a Macro level interest rates are on the rise globally which should mean higher returns from the investment pool of premiums.
Micro:
QBE pays a reasonable dividend.
Blue chip company hopefully in a turn around also probably a defensive stock in a market shakeout.
Approached as recently as last December with takeover talk - the lower it goes the greater the opportunity. Who better qualified to value an insurance company than another insurance co?
I picked up more yesterday at $11.85
