The final confirmation we were on hold (if you still needed it) was the awarding of funds last week by the PM to other hopefuls… Imo it would have been political suicide to give gov. money to a nickel processor in QLD using New Caledonian ore (even for producing pharmaceutical grade nickel in a much much better way than HPAL) when big miners in WA and elsewhere are crying out for support and closing mines…

100% reading the threads this is IMO the comment of the day! I hadn’t thought about the politics of funding a NC mine over an Aus mine. I had wondered why they chose to emulate the old Qld Nickel/Gladstone Nickel process and not tie in with an Aus mine and I was told the cost would be too high in comparison. Maybe this was the funding decider?
