With the looking at milestones, I wasn't expecting this latest announcement this fast tbh. This is only my opinion of course, but I had no idea AXE was working with an advanced chip manufacturer in Europe and could prove a reliable quantum information chip this early. My earlier guess at a roadmap was that they would try to fabricate a semiconductor prototype here in Sydney first as a theoretical proof of concept and then approach a chip maker to scale production. Instead, they've jumped ahead and teamed up with tech innovators EPFL to come up with leveraging existing electron spin resonance capabilities ( which is a standard analyser in materials science and chemistry) to detect electron spin and put this capability on a HEMT chip. HEMTs can amplify readings, use low power, introduce only low noise. Which means high accuracy. The dimensions of these chips, going by the pics in this announcement looks about 1 cm long, with the embedded ESR circuitry being the little square 0.5mm x 0.5mm .

As they have stated, Archer's strategy is ..."to make the 12CQ chip compatible with modern electronics." Which I think they have demonstrated here. Looking forward, I'm going with their intention to have quantum powered mobile devices.
