Bakers creek waste dump is approx 105m by 70m in area and 15m to 20m deep. This equates to between 110250-147000 cubic metres.
A cubic metre of soil weighs around 1.2 tons. According to 2006 sampling a ton yields 3.49grams.
So conservatively if you work with 110000 cubic metres and allowing each cubic metre to be 1 tonne the amount of gold should be around:
110000 times 3.49 = 383900grams - equating to 383.9kg.
Converting to ounces: 383.9 times 2.2 times 16 equals roughly 13500 ounces.
13500 ounces times approx $2200 per ounce equals around $30mill Oz dollars. Stand to be corrected. This is just Bakers creek alone.
