The trouble with charting is that it can only show the past and the present, there is no data that can be collected from the future unless you own a time machine. Charting may be based on a pure emotionless newtonian universe where all actions can be described in simple mathematics, unfortunately the market consists of human beings, who do have emotions and act illogically or even just unpredictably at times.
The very second that a chart is produced it is out of date, because some market participant somewhere somehow will have a change of circumstance that affects their decision making going forward, and rendering the assumptions in the data and the chart irrelevant as far as the future is concerned.
