Its incorrect to say that CXO will not give economic benefits to the local economy. CXO are NOT building a Camp on site. Fly in workers will find accommodation in Darwin and drive/bus to work like the rest of us.
These workers will plough money into the local economy. Each $ spent has a multiplier effect. Work requirments that need skills that the locals have will obviously be sourced locally. Jobs at the Port etc
Change can be dificult to deal with but 6 months after its happenned to forget about the pre change drama and just get on with it. While population keeps growing so will demand for products that require a hole in the ground. Nothing except huge population reduction and demand reduction will change this.
In the meantime we just have to get used to those holes in the ground. Its just life these days.
