A: It's about value, and potential value. No buyer or seller operates in a vacuum. As DCN approached $1 others, retail, instos and management would BUY. If one shorted that heavily/hugely, a short squeeze could wipe them out.


Q: "I understand it is difficult for liquid stocks but shouldn't be a problem for something like DCN.[?]"
A: DCN is liquid enough, but not liquid enough to conceal such a predatory strategy. Others would jump at a taste.
