Or perhaps the speculators are pre-empting a drop in GP in the coming days and taking some chips off the table and the run of the last few days could be taken up by retail investors through gold ETF, etc.... Who knows?

My assessment/opinion: Fundamentally GP is very good(medium/long term), technically GP is about to correct a little(short term: perhaps heading toward $2,000 and then come down a bit in a holding pattern above the $1,900 mark).
