The trials may be to do with complementary medicine, and if so may take a year or two to gather enough suitable people. It may be similar to the train of herbal or dietary supplements that "may" provide some type of relief together with prescriptive medicine.
Other than that, perhaps hope for a reddit bubble or otherwise.
