Bedwetters? Does it make you feel tough to talk about people who actually fight for the betterment of the country and the environment so your children and your children's children have a beautiful place to live which can provide for them?
I'm a geologist, I studied at UWA in the west, the majority of my friends from uni are in engineering or environmental science working for asx200 companies. I can assure you that the majority of people in oil and gas and resources are very sensitive to the environment, many even vote greens. While some people are prepared to destroy the environment for a quick buck. The majority want sustainable outcomes.
Australia is very lucky to have an active greens movement, I'm hiking in the Grampians at the moment and I hike and camp most weekends, there are few countries in the world you can can experience such a prestine environment let alone let alone drink the water.
Go walk amongst 100s of year old trees in the franklin river where the green movement started and you will see first hand that the trees are far more valueable where they are than as coffee tables people use for a few years then throw away.
I went diving in Lambeh straight in Indonesia recently which is one of the best muck diving locations on the planet. Sadly it's also a major port for the island Sulawesi and for every unique endemic endangered critter there are 10 signs of pollution. It doesn't take a genius to work out a coal terminal on the Great Barrier Reef is a bad idea. Adani and the government will make money from the coal mine and terminal for 20 years. If they look after the reef people could make money from it for generations.
I want positive outcomes for STX too and I think energy security is important but I also want environmentally positive outcomes. There are things in life far mor important than my bank account.
