Good post.
Makes me wonder why FAR didn't point out the positives (increased NPV - how much? and reduced OPEX - how much?) as well at the time.
I also wonder why FAR appear not to have allowed for both cases. There was seemingly no contingency or backup plan. Best case - lease, worst case - purchase. Cashflow wise I mean.
