To me, the biggest red flag is that 3 engineers quit during the quarter. If AKP were seriously about to revolutionise the world of audio and make their employees incredibly rich through stock options, why on earth would THREE engineers quit?

Engineers would obviously be right on the frontline and know exactly the capabilities of the chip. There is no way that AKP has what they say they have, and three engineers quit the company.
