For wireless BT headphones or if someone wants to use a lead to plug into USB-C on a newer Phone, currently a tiny and cheap DAC is used (located inside the headphones for BT or in the plug on the lead when plugging in). But with AKP headphones all will stay in the digital realm which will contribute to better sound results than the cheap DAC current headphones come integrated with. The only time a cheap signal conversion chip will be used is for ADC, for when using the AKP based Headphones with an analog headphone output. Complete inverse situation.
