I remember Danny was asked if more capital would help bring the product to market, he started to respond in the affirmative, but Fred cut him off and said no.

Maybe Fred thought he could raise $20M from his mates and become the richest man in the world. That and the trickle of additional capital since then has not been enough to get this thing to work. The patents will start to run out soon. Someone else may get this to work in the future (Chinese I bet). But too late for Fred.
