I found out from of all people my daughter who works for a horse racing stable and they use diatomaceous earths as a part of feedstock and it is very common in the industry. She told me that it was made from some sort of shellfish at very high temperatures well over 1000 degrees. She said that she was told that it was made in big metal tubes that turned round with gas flames burning on the inside. I am no expert on that kind of thing but I can see that it would have a refractory lining to protect the outer shell. So if that is what ECT have got complete with all the firebricks to line it then they have got the wrong thing its not a kiln.
