What you say is what I am saying. But the MEMS array EM describes in their patents also is designed as and works as a traditional speaker. That is what I have assumed EM did their initial work for. But it also works for AP's DSR array. They both need the same pixels with the same requirements of operation.
Yes, EM is making one type of GEN-II AP chip. It belongs to AP. But EM may sell it too, and I am sure that will be their aim. But their FAB is not only making GEN-II chips (- unless the demand for them suddenly becomes HUGE!), it will make other chips, and that will possibly include analog audio MEMS chips too. Probably for headphones etc, but I don't know how scalable they are as full sized loudspeakers.
