There's a lot of chat about slow implementation, but is there any evidence PCK are the main hold up here?

When most companies decide to take on a major software package resulting in a significant change in business process; there is often months of internal processes/documentation that needs to be re-written, updated or created - AFTER a implementation planning period is completed. Thats before you consider getting past internal IT departments security hurtles!

Then there is the actual staff training once above has been completed, usually followed by an overlap period where the existing and new systems are run parallel until the new system is confirmed as working.

Ican only imagine the above is multiplied by the fact the product is in health/medical and is potentially dealing with sensitive patient data.

I'm not sure what everyone else is imagining, but implementation is not "sign on the dotted line" and you're pain free by lunch time tomorrow.
