Presumably EM will have fully tested the chips and therefore it would be unlikely that they would forward faulty chips on to AKP for their approval. After so little news, it would be good to hear from AKP (1) The chips have been received & (2) updates regarding testing progress. I understand from previous announcements that the chips will be "overclocked" - run over many trials to determine whether they are reliable. I expect that Gen II will need to be as good in terms of frequency response, THD etc., as Gen I, but louder. The consensus was that Gen I was 70 db. We may even be informed as to the db level of the Gen II chip.
