Peppermint Innovation Ltd (ASX: PIL) has made significant strides in the Philippines' digital payments sector. Its subsidiary, Peppermint Bizmoto Inc. (PBI), has secured an Electronic Money Issuer (EMI) license from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), allowing it to offer e-wallet services through its Bizmoto mobile app.
This accreditation enables Bizmoto to integrate with InstaPay and PESONet, facilitating real-time and bulk fund transfers. The EMI license also expands PIL's reach, allowing more Filipinos—especially those unbanked or underbanked—to access digital financial services.
With the BSP pushing for 50% of all retail transactions to be digital by 2023, Bizmoto's role in financial inclusion is expected to grow. The platform also supports micro-entrepreneurs by offering bizmoPay loans and bizmoProtect micro-insurance policies
