I admit I have moved from "sell" to "hold" since they've stabilized, so count me wrong on that level. My concern remains that this company has not shown any evidence that they can consistently grow revenues. They're essentially walking in place at $1M/quarter over the past year and a bit, while not making an appreciable profit. I'm not offended by the existence of a a wholesome company that makes $4M/year and more or less breaks even doing a solid niche social network, but they've been around for a long time and not broken out of that particular level.
As for 'talks with bigger players': a core problem of startups is that they need to show growth. Not revenues, not profits, growth. An 8 year old startup who is currently earning 1/3rd their peak revenue is not in a commanding position - even relative to some absolutely dipshit startup that's incinerating money but has shown consistent revenue growth q on q. This is stupid, maybe, but it's the reality.
