I think you'll find STM never did trade at $3.00 as historical charts would suggest.

Historical charts are often adjusted to allow for splits, consolidations, rights issues, spin-offs etc.

STM, or Avalon as they were known back then completed as share consolidation of 1 share for every 10 shares on 18/11/2014, which meant that all historical price data prior to the split would've been multiplied by a factor of 10, in order to smooth out the chart. The share price on the historical chart on the day of consolidation shows 30 cents.

To kinda prove the company never traded at $3.00, if you were to look at STM's announcements around the time when the historical chart says it was trading at a close of exactly $3.00 on the 30/5/2008, you'd find that the company completed a share placement comprising 6.6 million shares at 15.5 cents per share on the 27/3/2008, so unlikely the price rose 1,835% in that time, given what they were doing during that time period. But it is what I hope will happen to our share price once we've peppered El Palmar with holes.
