Commenting on second quarter activities, Professor Dudley Kingsmith, Non-Executive Chairman of AR3, said:
“The past 3 months has seen an increasing recognition by manufacturers, governments and the broader scientific community of the unique role that rare earths have to play in the global drive to a carbon neutral economy. In particular, the rare earths used in high strength magnets, which are a key feature of the Koppamurra deposits, have a significant part to play in the energy efficient drives of electric vehicles, wind turbines and robotic equipment. The potential development of Koppamurra could add to the diversity of supply required for these critical materials’ long-term environmentally sustainable availability.”
Interesting comment. Whether we like it or not, geopolitics will keep rearing its ugly head over and over again. Maybe not immediately for some projects but sooner or later it will and quite simply, ‘second or third world’ jurisdictions are proving themselves untrustworthy. It doesn’t take much for them to either feel intimidated, threatened or inferior for whatever reason, i.e., as Rio Tinto recently found out when Serbia revoked their lithium licence. For a large company like Rio it can afford to absorb the lost (US$450m spent on pre-feasibility and other studies), however, less so for small-cap companies.
So glad our resource is in our backyard. Clearly, offering manufacturers a long-term solution to key concerns is what it's all about.
Looking forward to the pending assay results!
