irrespective of your tax status when a Dividend is franked vs unfranked you are better off
let me highlight using an example
100 FF dividend at various tax brackets vs unfranked
top mtr
franked - you pay another 15% ( 45.% in total ) tax and therefore net 85
unfranked - you pay 45% net 55
30% mtr - franked - you pay and receive nothing so you keep the 100
unfranked - pay 30 so you net 70
15% super
franked you got a 15 refund as
company has already paid 30
unfranked you pay 15 and receive 85. Even without An SMSF the tax credit nets off other tax payable
for the same level of dividend , in this example 2c having it partially franked will result In a better outcome for us irrespective of our tax bracket
