I think I understand. I would suggest this is not the forum for the discussion that might address the conundrum. The current ecosystem is being given the power of the incumbent and thus changes must be opposed. The CCOE or "carbon content of everything" that goes into a product will increasingly be examined. We must have more energy and its production must be less noxious.

For the Earth, I think the goal imminently achievable. We need to lower carbon content of energy and we must have the rare earths for higher tech (especially magmetals NdPrDyTbHoSm). Getting the rare earths means having thorium in abundance - making lemonade out of lemons is a time-honored profit center.

If China and/or India actually does prove out a sustainable thorium reactor base power source, it would have significant economic and geopolitical power and also be in perfect alignment with critical global REE supply chain security goals. Since I am unaware of any such programs of merit outside Indo-China, it is at present the most logical birthplace of this "multitasking" solution.
