This story claims the VRFB was invented in the USA, but it wasn't.
"...The idea for this vanadium redox battery began in the basement of a government lab, three hours southwest of Seattle, called Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. It was 2006, and more than two dozen scientists..."
It is well documented that the VRFB was developed in Australia at UNSW in the 1980's. UNSW also had patents.

It looks to me that the yanks are trying to claim credit for a tech development done elsewhere, as is often the case.
