But we still need some sort of base load source when the wind ain't blowing and the sun doesn't shine. Batteries and pumped hydro can help but we need a quantum leap in battery and other storage technology etc. I have eternal faith in humans being able to overcome this issue. I'm sure in 20 years time we will (hopefully) be looking back at current technology and be in awe at the massive progress.

As for the elephant in the room unfortunately I don't think we are going to make it through this mess. If the science is right we are close to the tipping point. Sorry to be a killjoy but I do hope I'm completely wrong and I have been many times.
