You are assuming ICEs will remain cheaper than EVs, and ignoring the affordability of diesel/petrol. So few moving parts compared to an ICE.
Probably thinking of a villager in Africa or India surrounded by sunlight and solar PV which is just getting cheaper and cheaper. Affordability will be the reason that they will be buying EVs instead of the ICEs they could never afford to run. Might not be flash SUVs with a 500 km range, but more than a shopping basket and using cheap batteries providing the short range desired.
You might stick with your diesel until you can’t drive it into any major city, or until diesel becomes unavailable. Filthy things should never have been allowed in cities.
