The results from the 2022 Fraser Institute annual survey of...

The results from the 2022 Fraser Institute annual survey of mining and exploration companies were released yesterday, goes part the way in highlighting the current situation in Victoria.
As context the survey is an attempt to rank countries and states based on the extent to which public policy factors encourage or discourage mining and exploration investment. Anyway, I don’t normally take too much notice of the results, mostly because its typically a small pool of respondents (180/1966 in this case)…. so straight away it’s there is a degree of bias. The other reason is because as with most issues the devil is in the detail, and while the survey does get down to state/province level….it doesn't go beyond that, so it cant pick up local issues/variability.

But to be fair, they can’t encapsulate everything, and it is at least an attempt at a global ranking system.

Anyway leaving the overall rankings etc aside...The interesting part of the survey (imo) is that it also includes results from the Permit Times for Mining Exploration sub-survey….
