Curious.
The quarterly notes Root Bay drilling as complete at 31 drill holes for 6055m. The McCombe JORC resource put out the map below which had 31 holes and was only a few days ago so an office junior would obviously put two and two together and counted the drill holes, added the lengths of those drill holes and noted it was 6055m. End of story?
Satellite maps of 20 March and 19 April are below. I've put a red dot on four white spots that appear on 19 April but are not noted as drilling locations in the 31 hole JORC McCrombe update. I'm only 50/50 on the 4th of these possible drill sites. Fairly consistently these white spots that have appeared in previously green tree areas have been future drilling sites. Its possible GT1 prepared the drill site but pulled the drill rigs before getting there. It could also be that head office prepared the quarterly on out-of-date information about what was happening in the field. I hope it is the later because these four extra holes will provide a lot of useful information about the potential size of Root Bay.
#1 upper right. This appears to be north of RB-23-185. 185 is the 2nd from the right of the upper string of 6 holes. This would be an interesting test hole to see if the shorter red rectangle pegmatite (RP_07) did extend north (or if the dip twisted it could be drilling east to RP_01, the right most pegmatite).
#2 upper left. This is north-east of RB-23-174 and would be exactly the right location to test an extension of the longer middle pegmatite RP_08.
From the right this is north and between the 3rd and 4th northern extension holes.
#3 Mid-left. This possible hole east of RB-23-118, but west of RB-23-111/RB-23-152. This would have been an excellent location to better understand what RP_04 was doing as it would give a depth perspective similar to RB-23-088 but to the north (RB-23-088 had a pegmatite intercept of 17.8m @ an estimated 10% li so likely >1%).
#4 Far lower right. The colour drilling map of the 31 March announcement had 32 drill holes planned. The difference between this and the McCrombe JORC picture with 31 holes is a far right along strike planned drill hole (to the east of RB-23-011). That area of the satellite is hard to tell what's a drill hole and what's not, but there is an area of white that remains clear on the 19 April satellite that is consistent with one further eastern extension drill hole. Clearly eastwards extensions of this trend of pegmatites would be of interest. While 011 only hit thinner pegmatites, the grade estimates were strong at 15% Li (as per the JORC update).![]()
