there's one pic of a plaque set in rock commemorating the 30th anniversary in 1996 of Maldon being awarded Australia's " first notable town".

it's a beautiful village, no question about that.

Kaiser Reef will want to and have to anyway tread carefully to avoid getting the locals offside.

that said, gold probably mostly built that town, and Kaiser Reef is certainly already a major employer and wealth generator in the district and company plans suggest there's more to come.

so the good folk of Maldon may well be predisposed to expanded long-term operations.

a win-win situation is possible here but deft footwork is required of the board and management. The community relations manager should totally be a class act.
