Exactly. Having a free trade agreement with Indonesia would be like taking all the ESG standards and flushing them down the toilet. Also, yeah, they don't want to give China a backdoor to undersell the 'good' suppliers...at least not one they'd admit to!
Having said that, the marketing on EV has taken some big blows and I can't see them taking off until the infrastructure, tech, and safety have improved. ALSO PEOPLE DON'T LIKE FEELING THEY ARE BEING FORCED INTO IT! FFS!!
edit... The bright side is that transportation and public infrastructure (including energy storage batteries) will still go ahead full steam if they're serious about 2030-35 goals, regardless how many people actually buy EV's.
