Yeah, that is usual. I used to work for mineral resource exploration and extraction outfits in such places. The companies running such operations were pretty "badass" themselves. In the case of FFX did they ever own/control the Morila mine, or did they just tell investors that? That is a dangerous game to play and probably why the Mali government is investigating them.
