How do you rationalise or justify the bonus cash grab by the BOD against a backdrop of supposed cost cutting ?

How do I rationalise the cash bonus....?

From the AVZ Financial Report ending 30 June 2023 (4 screenshots of pages 18,19,20,21) below:
Comparing 2 screenshots immediately above, the directors 'Cash Salaries and Fees' for FY 21/22 and FY 22/23 are almost the same.
During FY 21/22 directors received shares but no cash bonuses.
During FY 22/23 they got cash bonuses and a very significantly smaller number of shares comparing to FY 21/22.
Is if fair to say that they got these cash bonuses in lieu of shares they missed out on?
As well as they spent 246 days, most of it, in the DRC arguing with all those $@#$%&%$#@ over there (see below):
....and in the last quarter ending 30 September 2023 they had only received base salaries and fees:
