Through recklessness, bad luck, failure in their duties or something more nefarious, we still don’t know. We’ve all become so weary and subjected to such endless repetition of a constructed narrative that we are just expected now to take that spin (and the losses) as a given. I’m not really even sure that I understand what the terrible thing is that FFX is supposed to have done to Mali - all I ever saw was “community” engagement expenditure left, right and centre - teachers, schools, fish farms, etc. The rehabilitation fund - if that’s a bone of contention - has only become an issue post-fact. It didn’t precipitate the sudden breakdown in relations and the walkout. And in any case the mine still had a decade or more to run so it’s not like rehabilitation was an anticipated event for anytime soon. It’s not even clear how FFX got into a supposedly dire state in just a 2-3 week period immediately prior to the halt & suspension. One minute we have a ramp up happening, gold being sold, and ownership of 80% of a refurbished gold mine. No issues or hiccups were disclosed or evident. The next, we are told we are allegedly in crisis over what (to me) is a comparatively small amount of aged creditors. There is an old saying that if you repeat an untruth often enough eventually it becomes the accepted truth. That’s the sort of number I feel has been pulled on us here because nobody has been honest and transparent about what exactly went wrong at Morila and the precise timeline. And I’m sorry to say, the fools who railed against and voted down the 249D have simply aided this sidestep and continuing smokescreen. It is almost unbelievable that now - into a third calendar year - we still don’t have cogent answers or any accountability whatsoever.

If/when this blows over & the dust settles, I'd be happy to get together with a few like minded FFX investors, chip in some funds & have the entire process investigated. May cost me a few dollars, but if accountability is reached & finally some justice served, I'd be happy with that.
