Your use of the word "tinkering" is interesting.
Does it mean the Board is grappling with the interests of HFR and the interests of HWIs (High Wealth Individuals) who may have sway with the Board?
The "Rainmakers" that HFR contracts with could be in a not dissimilar position to the PWC situation ie giving separate self-interested recommendations on the same topic to two separate clients whose interests are mutually exclusive.
A transparent comprehensive display of savvy and integrity of all Board members (and execs) is called for.
