They can dream, or have some sort of technical sandbox, but physics and economics will hit them hard, when they will try this in real life. I may be wrong in 5-10 years, if there will be enough hours of cheap renewable energy for "cooking" cheap hydrogen.
There has newer been (and newer will be) a one tehnology to rule them all when it comes to batteries. We are still using same (or even more) amounts of led-acid batteries, why are we soo dumb, LFPs are cheaper and last at least twice as long. A run-of-the-mill industry is hard to change overnight.
