Well, the wet/cyclone season has been and nearly gone. Comes around each year up in NQ. Everyone gets the same hit pretty much. Wet coal can be loaded on ships. Shipments missed because ships have had to go out to sea because of a cyclone, are often lost permanently because the terminals do not have extra capacity to catch up. All cop it, seemingly. All the risk is on the miners. Despite this, they got over the big hump of deferred royalty tax payment, with a small profit. I had expected $25 mill from info available.
With lower coal prices now, more normal, a fair bit is going to ride on costs. The royalty take this quarter will be much lower. Cyclones are less likely but possible. There is a joker though. The huge eruption of Hunga Tonga has really changed rain patterns. Have you noticed the lack of droughts since? Reminds me of the old adage that its hard to remember your original plan is to drain the swamp when you are up to your arse in alligators and being eaten alive by mosquitoes.
