which is what Tesla has been doing & Musk has backed Trump, will be interesting to see how things play out after USA election with the usual anti CCP rhetoric which always smacks of jealousy & nationalism as much as tough trade war tactics
around half of all Tesla's are made in China
of note also is the bold claim by Tesla that next gen EV platform will be built without using rare earths, but let's just see if this actually happens
it's a really difficult time economically
Tesla has previously partnered or contracted battery tech from BYD for use in Tesla Europe
TSMC is setting up factories in USA, Japan & Germany to expand beyond Taiwan & reduce risk of CCP interference, but it's a different situation to Tesla & different again to ASM - especially given Tesla & TSMC are expanding
USA has already put tariffs on BYD & other imported EVs
There are already calls for tariffs linked to rare earths but might be a stretch too far under current economic conditions & with so many industries beyond EVs requiring rare earths?
Perhaps the support offered to Iluka would have been better spread amongst several Oz rare earths projects?
Perhaps it's for the best that Dubbo is not progressing quicker?
Certainly seems for the worst that KMP is not bringing in sales already & not scaling up
Is ASM prepared to sell products from KMP at break even or a loss in a bid to prove products, secure sales & reduce cash burn, with contracts linked to floating prices with potential for profits & losses based on wider market conditions & CCP manipulation?
Is there any profit or survival benefits for ASM if they try working with Chinese suppliers or buyers?
Where is Hyundai/Kia sourcing rare earths from?
Kia is launching the EV5 which is made in China & to be sold in Australia
Looks very challenging for ASM at the moment
Happy to keep adding at these ridiculous prices, but very thankful I took significant profits just below $12
Maybe ASM is a basket case & goes nowhere?
Guess we will see
