The deal was stopped because Giles and Johnson encouraged everyone to vote against so they wouldn’t lose control. Yes, in one $50m subscription SIMEC might have controlled HAV but it would not be possible for them destroy as much shareholder value as the current board has.
The share price might even be higher today than it was then. Wouldn’t that be be strange.
