To measure the fetal heart rate, you need to differentiate it from maternal.
Errors have occured where CTG machines have doubled maternal heart rate (lub dub sound) and mistakenly recorded fetal heart rate on a fetus already dead.

Terribly distressing and confusing for parents and staff.

It would be a basic feature of the device to record maternal and fetal heart rate.

Also, if Heramed is being marketed as a comprehensive maternity monitoring system, the maternal heart rate is important too. Tachycardia could indicate infection, abruption, dehydration or even anxiety. Untreated maternal tachycardia can lead to the baby becoming distressed with low oxygen or acidosis.

So much potential for this company, it is reassuring they are getting it right so far.....
